Our Story – The Pulsating Heart of Africa

Born of Africa’s Spirit, Shaped By Passion, Driven By Purpose

Where It All Began

2012–2020: A Dream Born in Kenya, Built in Vancouver

Africa Wild Safaris began with a simple but powerful idea: to share my Africa—the one I grew up with in Kenya and Tanzania—with people seeking something deeper than just a safari. In 2012, after moving to Vancouver, I found myself yearning to connect the wildlife and cultural richness that shaped my childhood with this side of the world.  So I started East Africa Wild Safaris as a way to bring those stories to life for others. At first, it was just me—crafting custom safaris from a distance, working late nights across time zones, and building deep relationships with ground handlers, guides, and owners of camps and lodges.

Between 2013 and 2020, the company grew slowly and organically, driven by word of mouth and a commitment to crafting immersive, high-touch journeys for guests from Canada, the U.S., and beyond.

2020–2022: Surviving The Storm

When COVID-19 shut the world down, our industry came to a sudden halt. Like many travel businesses, we were forced to pause, rethink, and dig deep. What got us through wasn’t just hope—it was our community. Loyal clients stood by us. Accommodation providers and guides collaborated like never before. And we realized that the way we’d always done things—slow, thoughtful, personal—was not just resilient; it was essential.

That period tested everything. But it also clarified everything. We weren't just a safari company. We were stewards of stories, of conservation, of trust. And when travel came back, our clients returned with even greater intention—to see Africa with purpose.

2023–2025: Expansion and Evolution

As we’ve grown, so has our reach. We’ve gone beyond East Africa, crafting journeys into Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and South Africa—working with trusted partners and hand-picking lodges that match our standards of authenticity and excellence. What started as a focus on Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda/Rwanda has now evolved into a pan-African vision.

With that, comes change. In January 2026, we’re officially rebranding to Africa Wild Safaris, with a name that reflects who we’ve become and where we’re going. We're not dropping "East" to forget where we started—we’re dropping it so that the whole continent can be part of the story. Because our guests aren’t just looking for a destination anymore—they’re looking for Africa in full colour, depth, and soul.

Today: Africa, As It Should Be

Africa Wild Safaris is the next chapter in a journey rooted in home, shaped by relationships, and inspired by the wild beauty of this continent. We still believe in doing things the right way—not the fast way. We work with local guides, conservation-focused lodges, and offer journeys that blend luxury with meaning.  The story continues—and we invite you to write your chapter with us.
